Many people in the Jeep community know of Ryan Lennon and his roaming Billet Silver 2014 JKU Wrangler.  You may have spotted his Unr8d Photography and Jeep talk in various forums and 4WD publications, or seen him out on the trails, mainly in South East QLD region. We asked Ryan a few questions about his Jeeping jaunts.

Jeep MuddyWhat far away destination have you and your Jeep travelled to?
From Brisbane to the Snowies, but most recently up to far North QLD.

What route did you take?
Left Brisbane and stayed the first night on the beach at Double Island, headed to Bowen for the second night via the Coastal Hwy, from there straight through to Cairns via Townsville. Leaving civilisation behind we made our way up to Cooktown via the CREBB track and being FNQ had a monsoonal deluge, which made the trip that much more interesting.  The JK made it with ease and we were in Cooktown by nightfall.  Return trip we headed out to Charters Towers and headed back home via the inland tracks taking a few detours along the way for good measure.

Did you get lost at all – if so, were there any new discoveries?
We weren’t really on a tight schedule so I didn’t put too much thought into being at a certain place by a certain time, but took a couple of wrong turns that were well worth the look and longer drive. You don’t get lost in a Jeep it’s pure exploration!  To add to that, found the site of a truck that had been carrying ammonium nitrate + some other not so well traveling materials that got lost on a back road back in the 70’s, largest piece of it left is part of the steel bull bar of the Kenworth they were in. The story tells a lot about how isolated farms and properties were back even only 30-40 years ago and how different things are today.

Jeep towing horse floatHave you ever towed with your Jeep?
Yes both camper trailers and more regularly horse floats.

What mods do you have?
AEV 2.5″ lift, AEV steel front hoopless bar, AEV protection plate, AEV Savagre wheels in dark argent, 33″ MT tyres, GME UHF, ARB numberplate relocation, AEV heat reduction hood.
